Over the next few months, electricians for Shetland Heat Energy and Power Ltd will be inspecting and upgrading where necessary the earthing arrangements on our equipment in all properties on the Lerwick District Heating Scheme.
This follows the discovery that there may be an issue with the wiring to the circulating pump at the heat exchanger.
We would ask you to check to ensure that nothing in your property is lying against this cable, which in the vast majority of cases will be white, and that there is no discolouration of the cable. If there is discolouration of the cable, please get in touch with us on (01595) 697111 and we will send a technician out to check for you.
Similarly, if you are unable to identify the cable, or if you are unsure about the situation, please get in touch.
There is a very slight risk that this cable may overheat if there is an electrical supply fault to your property.
We will be in contact again shortly to arrange access to inspect the equipment in your property and upgrade the earth bonding if required. This will be done at no extra cost to you.
We are sorry for any disturbance this may cause, but it is important that we ensure the highest safety standards on our equipment.
The Lerwick district heating scheme will be shut down on the evening of Tuesday 14th November from 10.00pm until early the following morning. This is required for essential maintenance work at the Peak Load Boiler Station.
During this period there will be no heating or hot water available to customers throughout the whole scheme.
Every endeavour will be made to keep the shut-down as short as possible.
