Key Responsibilities:

Work with the Engineering Manager to deliver:

  • Engineering Support: Assist with day-to-day engineering tasks and develop procedures for the safe & effective operation of the network & pressure systems.
  • Maintenance System Implementation: Develop and manage a comprehensive maintenance system.
  • Drone Thermal Survey Analysis: Interpret drone thermal survey results and direct necessary repairs.
  • Energy Studies: Conduct feasibility studies and evaluate technical proposals to prepare for new energy sources.
  • Network Modifications: Plan and execute necessary modifications to connect new housing estates to the network.
  • Thermal Loss Review: Analyse thermal losses and outputs from the new metering system.
  • Risk Assessment: Write and maintain risk assessments for pressure equipment.
  • Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance: Deliver H&S and environmental development to maintain ‘best practice’ compliance with industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Network Thermal Analysis Software: Evaluate current outsourcing arrangements and potentially take ownership of the network thermal analysis models for future expansions.
  • CAD Management: Oversee the maintenance of AutoCAD drawings for the entire network.
  • New Connection Design: Stay updated with the latest design processes for new connections, including understanding the thermal stress arrangements and design techniques from pipe manufacturers.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Prepare and present technical reports and documentation.
  • Control Systems: Review developments and changes to control systems and control philosophy.

Qualifications:
 Essential:

  • Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Pressure Systems, or related field).
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary engineering role.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret data.
  • Experience with CAD software, particularly AutoCAD.
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply new design techniques and processes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.

Desirable:

  • Experience in district heating, renewable energy, or a related sector.
  • Familiarity with risk assessment procedures and compliance with H&S regulations.
  • Proficiency in maintenance system development and implementation.
  • Experience with PLCs, SCADA, and control software tools.

  • £36,000 - £40,000 P/A Salary (37 hour week).
